The Malaysian Preliminary Contest of the 11th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Student Concluded

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On May 12th, the 11th Malaysian Preliminary Contest of the Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Student co-organized by KongZi Institute University of Malaya and Chinese Embassy in Malaysia was successfully held at KongZi Institute University of Malaya. Thirty contestants from 15 secondary schools in Malaysia took part in the preliminary round. After intense competition, Anis Sharizan Binti Shahbudin from Foon Yew High School Kulai emerged as Champion. Joanne Biswas from Chung Hua High School Seremban won the second prize. They will be the representative for Malaysia College students to participate in the semi-final and final round of Chinese Bridge-World Secondary School Students Chinese Proficiency Competition.

In the opening ceremony, Assoc Prof Dr. Zalina Muhammad, Malaysian Director of KongZi Institute UM welcomed all the contestants and reviewed the development history of Chinese Bridge for College Students in Malaysia. She noted that the purpose of this Chinese Bridge is to provide students an opportunity to showcase their proficiency in Chinese language and to learn from one another, in order to enhance their understanding of Chinese language and culture. She encouraged students to prepare to be challenged, and position for Malaysia to new heights this year.

The competition is divided into three parts: speech, question-answer (Q&A) and talent show. All the contestants are non-native Chinese speakers; they gave the speeches with the topic “Experience Chinese Culture, Share Stories about China” in the first part. Anis Sharizan Binti Shahbudin from Foon Yew High School Kulai won the highest score by her outstanding speech. In the third segment, contestants showed their appreciation and deep understanding on traditional Chinese culture by their superb performance such as Mandarin singing, folk dancing, skill in playing traditional Chinese instruments and the Chinese martial art of Kong Fu.

The 11th Chinese Bridge World Secondary School Students Chinese Proficiency Competition was successfully concluded kudos to ANIS SHARIZAN BINTI SHAHBUDIN as the champion and JOANNE BISWAS as the runners-up.

第11届“汉语桥”世界中学生中文比赛马来西亚预赛圆满落幕

2018年5月12日,第11届“汉语桥”世界中学生中文比赛马来西亚预赛在马来亚大学顺利举行。本次比赛由中国驻马来西亚大使馆和马来亚大学孔子学院联合举办。共有来自全马15所中学的30位选手参加了此次比赛。来自宽柔中学古来分校的宇真(ANIS SHARIZAN BINTI SHAHBUDIN)同学和来自芙蓉中华中学的祖儿(JOANNE BISWAS) 同学分别获得本次比赛的冠军和亚军。他们将代表马来西亚,赴中国参加汉语桥复赛及全球总决赛,与世界其他国家选手同台竞技。

大赛开幕式上,马来亚大学孔子学院马方院长Dr. Zalina Muhammad向参赛选手和观众致欢迎词,并简要回顾了汉语桥比赛在马来西亚的发展历程。她表示汉语桥是同学们学习、分享与交流的平台,希望选手们在展示学习成果的同时,了解到更多汉语及中国文化的知识。
